This has been a pivotal year for action on climate change. Most striking has been the way that society has strongly and repeatedly voiced its concerns over the issue – to policy makers and the corporations they buy goods and services from. As a result, the political and corporate will to take responsibility for emissions is now at a higher level than at any time in recent history. We must do all we can to continue this momentum into 2020.
For many of us focused on delivering Emission Reductions, the annual United Nations COP is a key point to measure and drive progress. This year, disappointing headlines from the Madrid COP show how important it is that we and our partners continue to show leadership: funding real, additional Emission Reductions now, rather than waiting for a ‘global’ solution agreed by all. We sincerely hope that will come. In the interim, with your support, we will continue to act.
A number of Governments are also forging ahead and acting bilaterally. We are delighted to be working with them to pioneer new projects and ways of measuring and accounting for Emission Reductions on the ground. In this way, we can assist some of the world’s Least Developed Countries – those who need the help most – to reduce their emissions in a meaningful manner.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in 2019 and we look forward to working with you to deliver more real, additional Emission Reductions in 2020.
