As part of its commitment to climate action, London-based FIE: Foundation for International Education has begun offsetting its students’ round-trip flights from the USA to UK/Ireland as standard.

“Having worked with ClimateCare for a number of years, we are thrilled to be extending our carbon offsetting initiative to now include student travel.” said John M. Pearson, Senior Vice President – Operations.

He continued, “As educators, it is our responsibility to help inform students of the implications of their choices and the ways they can offset them”

FIE offsets these emissions through ClimateCare’s high-impact, Climate+Care portfolio, delivering robust emissions reductions that combat climate change whilst supporting sustainable development in communities around the world. The portfolio features projects verified by leading bodies Gold Standard and Verra, and includes projects that reduce emissions through clean cooking, rainforest protection, clean water and grid-scale renewables.

ClimateCare’s Director of Partnerships, Robert Stevens, commented: “We’re excited to be expanding our partnership with Foundation for International Education, who are demonstrating real leadership in their sector by offsetting the emissions associated with students’ flights. In turn, they are raising awareness of their students’ wider climate impacts and encouraging sustainable behaviours.”
