LifeStraw: Clean water in Kenya

This project brings safe drinking water to people in Western Kenya. It is one of the largest climate and safe water projects globally. Some 877,505 families use LifeStraw Family water filters to purify water in their home, rather than boiling water for drinking over open fires.

Efficient cookstoves in Mexico

To fight deforestation and protect people’s health in Mexico, this project is helping families in eight states to gain access to improved cookstoves. It will distribute some 121,190 improved cookstoves over the project’s 10-year lifespan, helping people to save money on fuel and reduce their exposure to smoky fumes in the home, while lowering pressure on local forests.

BURN: Efficient cookstoves in Kenya

The BURN stoves project allows families in rural Kenya to cook food using cleaner, more efficient cook stoves, thereby consuming less charcoal, reducing indoor air pollution and pressure on local forests, and cutting CO2 emissions. The project manufactures and distributes the market-leading ‘Jikokoa’ stove locally, employing over 200 people – over half of whom are women – including in the solar powered factory where the stoves are made.

Pamir hydro in Tajikistan

The Pamir Hydro Plant harnesses Tajikistan’s natural water resources to provide clean, reliable energy to some 254,000 people, avoiding the need for costly, polluting diesel generators. The project is leveraging carbon finance to add two 7MW turbines to its run-of-river hydroelectric power station, which further contributes 94,000 MWh into the grid.

CookClean: Efficient cookstoves in Ghana

In Accra, Ghana, CookClean Ghana is scaling up the production of its new and improved stove, the CookMate. This efficient, affordable stove cooks food more quickly and creates fewer smoky fumes than conventional stoves, reducing families’ exposure to indoor air pollution.
