Edward Hanrahan / CEO
Edward has managed ClimateCare’s development since 2007, providing financial rigour and strategic direction across all our programmes and activities.
Edward works closely with our in-country teams to structure finance and strategic partnerships for our global sustainable development projects. He advises banks, international development finance institutions and governments to help enable sustainable development at scale.
TOM MORTON / DIRECTOR NAIROBI
Tom leads our ClimateCare Africa Office, the centre of our Project Development, Research and Consultancy work.
His team specialises in delivering environmental and social development outcomes and, under Tom’s leadership, ClimateCare has won numerous project development awards. From clean cooking to renewable energy, Tom’s team are world experts at devising and delivering successful projects that create cost effective outcomes and leave a lasting legacy.
Tom’s team also provides research and consultancy services to development agencies, governments and NGOs, advising on clean energy, climate change mitigation and sustainable development policy.
ELIZABETH WILLIAMS / HEAD OF PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT
Lizzy is an expert in the carbon markets. She works with project partners across the world to develop their environmental asset and strategic route to market. Her comprehensive network of international projects, developed since 2006, means she provides unrivalled carbon market oversight for our corporate and wholesale clients.
With a Geography BA, specialising in biodiversity and climatology from the University of Oxford, Lizzy also holds a MA in Environmental Technology from Imperial College London. She produced the first ever survey of the voluntary carbon market, with the International Institute for Environment and Development and during her time at ClimateCare, has been actively involved in the generation of robust, credible standards for the voluntary carbon market.
EUGENE DOYLE / CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
Eugene identifies and applies the most effective financial mechanisms, structures and investment models for our programmes, to enable us to deliver positive social and environmental impacts at scale.
Applying over 30 years of experience across banking, finance and independent consultancy, Eugene has successfully managed the finance for projects and companies at a variety of scales, providing expert advice to companies in all stages of development from entrepreneurial start-ups to established companies. Eugene is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.
RHIANNON SZMIGIELSKI / MARKETING DIRECTOR
Rhiannon works with influencers and partners to drive behaviour change and encourage organisations to take full responsibility for their climate and social impacts.
Her team devise and deliver effective communications strategies for engaging staff, customers and stakeholders, helping clients maximise PR and business value from their ClimateCare programme.
A member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Rhiannon has 20 years communications experience. She holds a degree in International Agriculture and Business Management and a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing. She has previously shaped communications strategies for WRAP, the Royal Agricultural Society of England and the Countryside Agency and for sustainable behaviour change campaigns including Love Food Hate Waste, Recycle Now and Halve Waste to Landfill.
ROBERT STEVENS / HEAD OF PARTNERSHIPS
Rob oversees our partnership programmes. Engaging with corporates, governments and entrepreneurs to meet their business, environmental and social development goals.
Rob ensures programmes work for our partners, are outcome-focused and deliver measurable results for their business as well as people and the environment.
Rob hold a degree in Business Administration and is currently studying a postgraduate certificate in sustainable development with the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London in his spare time. Rob is chair of the International Carbon Reduction and Offset Alliance (ICROA).
TOM OWINO /TECHNICAL MANAGER/GENERAL MANAGER
Tom has worked in the fields of energy and environment for over 30 years. Tom works closely with project developers across Sub-Saharan Africa to advise on carbon asset development and effective funding mechanisms that deliver social and environmental outcomes at scale.
He also leads research and provision of consultancy and advisory services to Governments, development agencies and international organisations on effective climate policy and actions to deliver sustainable development. He has authored several climate change policy documents, such as National Communications to the UNFCCC and National Climate Change Action Plans, for various Sub-Saharan African countries.
Tom holds a Bachelor of Technical Science degree in Chemical Engineering and Fuel Technology from the University of Sheffield, with several years of both national and international work experience in management. He is a member of the Gold Standard Foundation Energy Technical Advisory Committee (TAC), where he helps to ensure that Gold Standard projects make substantial contributions towards sustainable development.
OLIVER FORSTER / SENIOR SUSTAINABILITY EXECUTIVE
Oliver helps our clients take ownership of their environmental and social impacts by identifying activities that will have a positive influence in the areas they operate. Co-ordinating expertise across our Oxford and Nairobi teams he helps create programmes that deliver value for people, the planet and your organisation.
Oliver holds an MA in sustainable development with Forum for the Future and BSc in Environmental Geoscience from The University of Edinburgh. A keen explorer, Oliver has also undertaken a number of scientific expeditions in the Himalayas. Both his studies and his expeditions have given him a deep appreciation of the wide ranging environmental and sustainability challenges facing businesses today, as well as some of the solutions.
PATRICK COLAS / SENIOR PORTFOLIO MANAGER
Patrick leverages his broad understanding of financial markets and previous work in compliance carbon markets to advise clients on applicable financing mechanisms within the ever-changing, global regulatory framework. Through continuous assessment of climate action innovations and best practice, he can anticipate and recommend solutions for strategic, asset-based impact investing.
Patrick holds postgraduate qualifications in economics and in sustainability.
JOASH OBARE/ PROJECT DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
With expertise across sustainability, carbon measurement and impact assessment, Joash applies his technical skills to measure, monitor and verify the impacts delivered through our projects, ensuring compliance with global standards, successful delivery and robust reporting of outcomes.
With a background in environmental consultancy, Joash also provides expert research and consultancy services to government agencies and sustainable development organisations. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies.
KOMAL SINHA / HEAD OF PARTNERSHIPS, CLIMATECARE INDIA
Komal works with corporates across India to design, implement and report CSR programmes that deliver measurable social and environmental impacts. She also helps international businesses deliver effective sustainability programmes within India, both through scaling existing projects and developing bespoke programmes. Through award winning Climate+Care programmes, Komal works with corporate partners to deliver measurable social and environmental outcomes which can be reported against the SDGs as well as the mandatory CSR reporting regulation in India.
Komal has over 12 years of experience in the areas of sustainability, CSR and climate change and is a CSR certified professional.
SALLY GAKII/ CARBON ASSET DEVELOPER
Sally is involved in identifying new projects and carrying out due diligence in order to ensure they comply. She is also responsible for managing the monitoring, validation and verification of ClimateCare’s own projects.
Sally has expertise in Carbon Asset Development across sub-Saharan Africa. She has a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science; Environmental Resource Conservation and a post graduate diploma in Project Management. She is also a National Environmental Management Authority EIA/NEMA Associate Expert.
AUDREY CAMPBELL/ PORTFOLIO MANAGER
Audrey has over 12 years’ experience in the environmental and carbon sectors. With her in-depth knowledge of projects and global network of international project partners, Audrey helps identify the perfect projects for our clients to support. Audrey tailors the programmes we create for our clients to ensure they resonate with brand requirements by supporting projects in relevant locations and which deliver the environmental and social impacts which are important to their customers.
Audrey also has extensive knowledge of carbon reduction and management techniques having worked at the Carbon Trust helping corporate clients with carbon management. Audrey completed an MSc in Architecture: Advanced Environmental & Energy Studies with the Centre for Alternative Technology in 2010.
SHILPA PRASAD / MARKETING MANAGER
Shilpa is a marketer with over 8 years of experience working with organisations to create robust marketing communication solutions with measurable outcomes.
She brings experience of working in the MENA region along with expertise in developing integrated digital marketing campaigns for the B2B sector. She is passionate about building brands through market research, innovative online tactics and strategies for customer acquisition and retention. Shilpa also has extensive experience working on design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design and Flash. She holds a Master’s degree in Design Strategy and Innovation from Brunel University.
STELLA BELL / PORTFOLIO MANAGER
Stella has been with ClimateCare for over 12 years. Initially in a client management role, she now works directly with our project partners, securing regular project updates, photographs and materials to help our clients communicate their work with us. She also puts together project portfolios , ensuring they are tailored to the individual clients’ needs.
Before working at ClimateCare Stella worked in the Travel Industry and for a number of environmental NGOs in Greece.
GEORGE BEECHENER / SUSTAINABILITY EXECUTIVE
George supports our partners in delivering their carbon offset requirements. Alongside the ClimateCare team, he works closely with businesses to help deliver social and environmental outcomes that are tailored to their operational remits and CSR strategies.
George holds a BA in Geography from the University of Oxford , where he stood as President of Oxford Energy Society. With a strong interest in environmental politics, he is engaged with the ever-growing opportunities for organisations to integrate social and environmental outcomes into their core operations.
LILIAN KAGUME / PROJECT ANALYST
Lilian works as a project analyst and has over 5 years’ experience in the fields of impact assessment and carbon asset development. She measures, analyses and documents the outcomes delivered by ClimateCare’s projects, to ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations. Lilian also has in-depth knowledge in environmental management and is passionate about projects that promote environmental protection, community improvement and sustainable development.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies from Kenyatta University, a post graduate diploma in Environmental Management and is currently pursuing an MSc in Environmental Management from The Open University in the UK.
HANNAH HICKS / FINANCE MANAGER
Hannah is a qualified accountant with over 10 years finance experience managing investments for High Net Worth Individuals and funds, as well as providing financial support in the Commercial Forestry and Wind Energy sectors. Hannah helps with financial modelling for our innovative project work and assists customers with finance related queries.
SARAH LOPEZ-RUBIO / FINANCE EXECUTIVE
Sarah has worked in the environmental space for over ten years. Working in the Finance Department Sarah provides financial rigour around the key control processes of the company. She works closely with all departments to ensure timely and accurate information is available to aid in management decisions.
JAMES WHITE / SUSTAINABILITY EXECUTIVE
James works in our Client services team, working in partnership with our SME clients on their offset programs. A geography graduate from Oxford University, he brings academic experience in climatic modelling. He has previous experience in professional services, supporting leading consultancies, asset management and private equity firms in their financial risk management teams.
